Desired Candidate Profile
- Ability to work with technical resources to create clear and usable product documentation for end users. This requires broad writing skills for the creation of all types of technical documents including both on-line and printed documentation formats – primarily on-line documentation.
- Capable of working under tight schedules while providing accurate and precise deliverables
- Agile ability in organization to gather technical requirements and other research databefore writing.
- Qualified candidate is expected to have a technical background. Technical abilities should allow for a solid understanding of the technologies being employed within Enterprise Software products.The successful candidate will be competent in managing their time – able to work to a deadline,anticipate dependencies, communicate issues, and know when to escalate efforts.
- 3- 5 years Technical Writing work experience with software products
- Bachelor degree in Technical Writing, Computer Programming, English, or similar emphasis
- Excellent written, verbal, and technical communication skills
- Experience with Help development software
- Understands the requirement to recycle/reuse content for localization
- Experience with version control management systems, like Visual SourceSafe
- Preferred experience with database technologies, such as Oracle and SQL Server and web application server technologies
- Preferred experience in XML, including writing in XML editors and DITA
- Must be a self-starter who works equally well independently and in a team environment
- Experience with writing documentation for various operating systems and form factors(mobile, web, and desktop).
Primary Responsibilities:
Creating product documentation for the Enterprise Software suite of products. Capable of writing various types of documentation – Help for end users, administrators, and developers;Installation Guides; Technical Specifications in a fast paced, Agile R&D methodology.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Writing product Help files where the user base ranges from end-user to highly advanced requiring programmatic documentation.
- Creating technical papers and best practice documents on subjects such as architecture, product features, and integrated solutions.
- Writing installation and setup guides that cover company products, database setup, Windows and UNIX environments, and additional component setup information.
- Strong experience with creating content plans, referring to style guides and authoring models, and evaluating product features to create a best-in-class user assistance experience.
- Working closely with Product Development Management, Developers, Quality Assistance, and Technical Support to create accurate and useful technical documentation and other forms of user assistance.
